I had a small group of ladies over last night to make some cards. The above card is using the new set The Open Sea, and I finally used my spiral notebook punch which I've owned for ages and never used!
This is a variation of my Mom's bday card, using summer starfruit as the background color. I love these flowers, such a pretty set. I think it's called serene silhouettes.
This one is using the set of butterflies called Papillon Potpourri. It has a matching punch which is awesome, love the size of this punch.
This card features the quint-essential flower which is just one stamp but can be punched out and layered in 5 layers. We used a lot of punches on this card!

Last one...
This is my last ordered item that I needed to sew. Steve and I are going on a trip (just us, Nanny and Poppy are coming here to babysit) in September so I wanted to get all the orders done before we went away. Then I will be in craft fair sewing mode when we return. We are going on a river boat cruise from Budagpest, Hungary to Nuremburg, Germany and then spending a few days in Prague. Looking forward to our trip, and you never know what kind of goodies I'll be bringing back from Europe!!

Fabric Basket
I had an order for a matching fabric basket and cosmetic bag, so I finished the basket up tonight. I'm not sure why I had never thought to make a matching set before, but I must thank my customer for the idea!! It looks cute to put them both together, great for storage in the bathroom or bedroom dresser.
I'm linking this up today to Made by You Mondays at Skip to My Lou (where I also found the tutorial for the boxy cosmetic bag I've made in a more recent post).

Grown up Blankie!!
I had an order for a larger version of my chenille blankets that I make for babies. This one is full of the Flea Market Fancy line by Denise Schmidt, plus some other squares thrown in there as well! The back is a smooth, vanilla chenille, it measures 54 inches x 60 inches. Perfect for snuggling up on the couch with! It's always a little tricky sewing stretchy chenille to cotton, but for such a large size it turned out really good!! Anyhow, I hope the birthday girl that this is intended for likes it!

Birthday card
I made this card for my Mom, who is coming for a visit on Thursday (yipee!). It's a new stamp set by Stampin Up! and it is very lovely to work with. I am all about more stamping and less coloring lately-although I'm sure that will change again! I used Rich Razzleberry and Peach Parfait cardstock and the little butterflies are from a retired set, but the size is perfect for this card.

Jungle Quilt Finish!
I finished my jungle quilt last night, and even had it washed and dried before I took these final photos. I love this pattern-I found it on Moda Bake Shop by Sew Crafty Jess. I did use the basting spray again, but I think I just was to light on the application as I didn't find that it held as well as my other 2 quilts. I'll know better next time not to be shy with the spray!
Anyhow, this quilt was a custom order so it will soon be off to it's new home. I hope the baby enjoys his new quilt!
I'll be linking up to TGIFF today which is being hosted by Nicole at Mama Love Quilts. Tuesday is Fabric Tuesday at Quiltstory, and I'll be joining the linky party there as well!

Purple and Blue patchwork
I'm back to making some chenille baby blankets again. I pieced this together in PEI and just finished it this morning while the kids were still sleeping- this getting up at the crack of dawn is working well-except now I can hardly keep my eyes open! Anyhow, I also sewed the binding on my jungle quilt, and have that outside slipstitching while watching the kids at the same time. I have enough of these squares cut out (different colors) to make 2 more of these chenille blankies, so you'll likely be seeing those next!

How to stay occupied in the car.....
When we have a long drive ahead of us in the car (as long as I'm a passenger, obviously) I like to make thrum mitts to add to my table at craft fairs. I finished this pair while we were in Newfoundland and I thought I'd share this photo with the ladies at the Needle and Thread Network!

Claire's jewellery
Just wanted to share a few more of my daughter's creations (she's 10!). She makes all the jewellery herself, I bought her a book named Bead Simple and she's made lots out of it already. The top bracelet is my favorite, it's wire twisted and then beaded. I'm glad she's finding her own creative outlet that is so different from mine. She loves making jewellery, and it makes great gifts!
Bibs, bibs and more bibs
I know I haven't been posting much lately, but I have been sewing (early morning while the kids are still in bed!) Anyhow, I had a rather large order for bibs, and I tried out some laminated cotton this time for baby's dinner time. It's wipeable, a little tricky to sew, but a great fabric to use for feeding time. Anyhow, still working on a few more things, it's raining here today so hopefully will get more sewing done today.

So hot......
It is so hot here this summer, not sure what possessed me to keep going on the Christmas card theme but here is one I colored last night. I used tombows on watercolor paper and a pearl pen. This is a Penny Black stamp, I've had it for ages!
The oval and the joy stamp are from a new set in the Stampin Up! holiday catalogue named Joyous Celebrations. The patterned paper is from a Quebec company named Harmonie, the other supplies are SU!
The girls and I went to Musquodobit today for a bike ride on the trail, but we only lasted around 45 minutes. Next time, we'll go early morning or evening, midday is just too hot! Good thing there was an ice cream hut where I parked the van, we were all much happier after our little delicious cone of ice cream!

Jungle quilt top finish
We are back from our vacation now, so I'll be busy filling orders for the next week or so! This quilt top is done, my friend ordered a jungle theme quilt for her soon-to-be nephew. Now, just to choose backing (something soft) and binding. I found the pattern for this quilt at Moda Bake Shop, and it was created by Sew Crafty Jess. I love it, easy pattern to follow and just so cute. I can't wait to finish it.
I'll be linking this to the Needle and Thread Network today and WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced tomorrow!

Fogo Island, Newfoundland
We are on vacation right now in Spaniard's Bay, Newfoundland, but we visited friends in Fogo Island first so I thought I'd share a few photos I took while we were there. It is a small island off the coast of Newfoundland, so it's quite remote which means it has retained a lot of it's historical qualities- many of the settlers and their traditions come from Ireland.
Hope everyone is having a good week, be home soon....In the meantime, enjoy the photos, it is a very worthwhile place to visit. Especially, for artists and photographers.
