A lucky find and some custom bags...

The other day, we went for a walk in our neighborhood and we came across this sewing machine, on a little table with a sign that said free!  We returned with our van and picked it up, sawed it off the table, polished it up and it now has a new home on top of my hutch in the kitchen.  I love it, it seems like it has always been nestled up there on my hutch full of quilts!

I had a couple of requests for my reversible bags, but with a longer strap to wear them messenger style.  Here's the first one.

The second one is grey chevron and pink polka dots.

Snowy day sewing

I had a request for a reversible purse, so made that today during our snowstorm (which has since turned to rain, I wish it would just snow!!)  This one has a longer purse strap than the others I made, hope she likes it!

The Sun is shining today!

After all of my complaining about the rain, the sun is out (and yesterday too).  Anyhow, I made this tote bag this morning, it's quite roomy-would be great to take shopping and put your purchases in.  I lined it with pellon fleece so it's quite sturdy as well.  I've been wanting to use this Joel Dewberry Aviary fabric for some time now, and thought this would be a great use for it.

Where is the sun???

We haven't seen the sun in days, I much prefer taking photos outside or at least next to a bright window, but sometimes that is impossible in the Maritimes.  Oh well, on a bright note, the upstairs is almost complete, it will be totally finished today and we are all very happy with it.  I think I love my closet the most....Anyhow, that's off topic, made some more reversible purses the other night for my sale.  I especially love the 2 middle ones- so perfect for summer.

Late night sewing...

I normally do not sew at night, as I can get a lot done when the girls are in school.  However, with all the renos this week, I decided I better get some sewing in last night.  I'm loving these bags.  Fun to make, and I really enjoy using some of my favorite fabrics for them.  I'm happy to making some "grown-up" items lately, so used to using mainly child friendly patterns, that these Joel Dewberry designs are refreshing!  Linking up to Canoe Ridge Creations today!

Reversible purses

Today, I made 2 reversible bags.  I found the pattern in an old Quilts Etc. magazine.  The top one is for my 10 year olds' friend who is celebrating her birthday today (the inside is orange polka dots, outside Joel Dewberry).  The bottom 2 photos is a late mother's day gift for my mother-in-law.  Off to the craft room to make a few more.....
