Another birthday...

This card will be mailed to my friend in Lethbridge, Alberta (where we lived 10 years ago) to celebrate her birthday in February.  I used watercolor paper and stamps by Stacey Yacula (bought through Purple Onions Designs).  I used Tombow markers to color these images.  I just love the design of these stamps and find they work well to color with my watercolor markers.  It's warming up a bit here, so that's great news!  Back to share some sewing soon, still finishing some scarves, and I've probably shared enough of those photos now!!

My youngest daughter will be turning 8 on Sunday, so I made her card this afternoon.  Last night, we made up the loot bags for her party.  All the die-cuts are from Stampin Up!  I love die-cuts, so easy to use and really make for a great little project to do with kids.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!  We'll be busy partying!!

More fabric styles

Salmon and Black Chevron

Teal and Black

Navy and White

Lime green tonal stripe

Pink tonal stripe

Which one will I keep?  Hard to choose, I sort of want one of each.  They are so soft around your neck, great for winter or spring.  I'm loving the top 2 however.....Now, to be brave and go and run errands in this -30C weather!

For the love of Chevron....

So, I know I haven't regularly been posting, we were away for the weekend to Atlantic City to watch Rob Thomas in concert (whom I have loved for ever!!)  Anyhow, today was a snow day and I finally was able to sit down and make some chevron and striped jersey scarves.  This type of fabric is not easy to track down, but boy do I love it!!
Lovely gray and white.

Turquoise chevron.  Only could buy enough for one scarf!

Two-toned yellow stripe.

Black and gray chevron-already spoken for by my mother-in-law! Linking up to The Needle and Thread Network today, will check out all the creations over there!

For the kitchen table

I have been in a bit of a sewing funk recently.  I think I did so much before Christmas that I just needed a break!  Anyhow, it's been on my mind for a little while that I would like to make some napkins, placemats and table runners so I made these this morning.  I want the design to look clean, and not too busy, so I thought just a square of designer fabric along with a natural linen would be nice.  The finished size is around 16x12 so plently of room for your plate and cutlery!

On another note, I asked a friend of mine in PEI if she could use her graphic design skills to come up with a logo for me.  Take a look at my blog header-she came up with the script herself and I love it!  I'm having it made into a rubber stamp, and business cards.  I'm planning on buying some paper bags, and stamping my logo onto each one.  I'm very happy with it, and can't wait to see it on a stamp as well.  That's it for now-hope you're having a good day.

Cupcake Card

Here is a stamp I've had for a long time by Sunshine Designs.  I used 2 new colors by Stampin Up, midnight muse and summer starfruit.  I love the starfruit color, it's very different than any of the other collections.  The lighter blue is Baja Breeze.  I used a pearl pen for the little dots on the cupcake and colored with SU! markers.  Hopefully, I will be getting back to sewing soon- I made a few more scarves this week, but mainly am shortening kilts for upcoming dance competitions for my girls.  I've discovered that kilts have a surprising amount of fabric in them and take a long time to do a blind hem on!!

Restocking infinity scarves

After the ECMC fair in December, I had quite a few requests for more scarves.  My girls are back to school today, so I was able to get down in my sewing room and get some scarves sewn up! I still have some different fabrics as well, cut just not stitched yet!

Learning to color...

My sister's birthday is on Sunday, so last night I made her this card.  She loves the color red, so wanted to have that as the main color for the card.  The flower stamps are  Outlines and I colored them with my alcohol markers that I bought at My Stamping Studio.  Still learning how to blend them, but this turned out not bad.

Happy New Year!  I'll be back in my sewing room again soon, school starts tomorrow for my girls.

Last minute gifts

I made these 2 drawstring bags for my Mom's knitting projects, using Jeni's pdf pattern from In Color Order.  I intended on only making one, but accidently used the pattern with the smaller measurements and I felt it wasn't quite large enough for the hats that she likes to make.  Anyhow, she always mentioned that she loved these little bags, so thought she deserved a couple of her own!

Purple Onions Christmas Cards

I made these cards last night.  The cards (except the cups) are colored with my new Chromatix Markers that are alcohol based.  I'm still learning how to shade with them, and to try not to color right up to the image line as the color tends to bleed outide the lines a bit.  The cups were colored with prismacolor pencils.  Loving these stamps though, I still have about 10 more Christmas cards to make, and if I was really smart, I would make a bunch for next year in January.  Not sure if I'm really smart though....
These zippered pouches were made with a tutorial I found at Noodlehead.  It's the open wide pouch, and it really is very roomy.  The toadstools, and kite ties are the medium size (gifts for my girls) and the aqua/grey in the background is the large size as part of my sister's gift.  That's all for now folks, linking up to The Needle and Thread Network today and Freshly Pieced.  I only have one WIP piece to report, a quilt top I made in the summer needs to be finished, but other than that I will resume sewing after the holidays!

Finished!

It was my goal to have this quilt done by Friday, and I'm done a whole day early!!  Here it is, I am very happy with how this turned out-I hope the family I made it for is happy too!
This is the front.  All squares were cut to 15x15.

On the back, I used different sizes of shirts, but filled in the spaces with Kona Ash gray (favorite neutral color!). Sharing this at JAQS studio today and  will be sharing this tomorrow at Crazy Mom Quilts for finish it up Friday tomorrow!

WIP T-shirt quilt

I was asked to make a t-shirt quilt as a Christmas gift, so I started it last week since I was all finished from the Craft fair preps.  I'm almost finished, I spent the morning quilting it, first time I've done a quilt this large in a long time (64x82).  I'm going to make the binding soon, and will hopefully have it ready for pick up by Monday.  I'll share a complete photo when it's all done, it's basically a reversible quilt since I pieced both the front and back with t-shirts!
I'll be linking this to The Needle and Thread Network today, and Freshly Pieced!

It was awesome!

Well, the ECMC fair was fantastic!  I saw a lot of friends, and met some new ones as well.  It was really busy both days, and lots of unique items in the room to buy for Christmas gifts.  The next one will be in the Spring, I'll keep you posted for dates!

Last week, I made this little basket from a tutorial posted at Film in the Fridge.  The round bottom was a bit hard for me to ease in, but it's really cute.  Great little storage container for hair clips, polly pockets, pet shops.  You know, for all those toys that are so tiny and they end up in your vacuum cleaner.

I also made a journal cover but didn't get around to blogging it before the show.  I found a tutorial at Stitched in Color for the cover, and really like that it uses up lots of stash pieces.

Anyhow, right now, I'm in the process of making a custom order t-shirt quilt.  It's pretty big, 69x86!  I have the top done, going to piece the back over the next couple of days and then hopefully will have it finished and ready to share by next week.  That's it for now, linking up to The Needle and Thread Network today.

Christmas Cards

I am slowly adding to my Christmas card collection, which is a good thing since we should be mailing them in the next week or so!  This one is a new stamp I bought from Purple Onions Designs and was drawn by Stacey Yacula.
This little mouse is also by Stacey.  I'm using up leftover paper from my SAS, so I'm sure you've seen this same background only with reindeer last time!
This one is all Stampin Up! I used the new color midnight muse and red riding hood ink for the ornaments.

For this card, I used the stocking punch and punched out from embossed paper.  The bakers twine is My Mind's Eye and I bought it at My Stamping Studio.  She has a ton of awesome twine there, and different colors of it too.

And no, these cards will not be on my Fair table tomorrow!  I wish I would have had time to make a few to sell, even if just to add a Christmas touch to my display, but I really need to keep these to give away!  Hopefully, I will see some of you tomorrow-now off to pack up.
