MMQG Blog Hop Day!!
Well, it's my day on the Maritime Modern Blog Hop schedule. I've been following along all week and have learned a lot about my fellow members-I guess we are too busy talking fabric instead of life in general so this has been a great reading material.
A bit about me-I worked as a dental hygienist for almost 15 years-decided to "retire" and make quilts instead about 3 years ago. I have 2 girls, and a hubby of almost 17 years and when they got tired of my continual show and tell I found the Quilt Guild (whose members never tire of show and tell). Here is a photo of my little family including my dog Ben (swore I'd never get a dog-still not sure how this happened).

Sharing a few photos of my craft room. I still like to rubber stamp cards so I have a lot of storage for my stamps, ink and paper on this side.
On the other side is a custom cutting table, a dresser full of scraps and the larger pieces wrapped around acid free comic book boards like mini bolts. I took these photos right after the studio reno so I assure you it is not this tidy right now.
Now to share a few quilty projects.
This was a custom order of twin quilts, co-ordinating colors for a set of twin girls.
This is also twin size, Kona cotton in a random pattern for a little boys room, I think he was just moving to his big bed.
This quilt was a gift for my oldest daughter, lots of cotton and steel fabric in this one! I used the tango pattern from Cluck Cluck Sew.
And this was for my youngest girlie-a tutorial on Cluck Cluck Sew blog for this block that finishes at 12 inches. I used some low volumes, and lots of shades of teal, yellow, mint and gray for her. Also the plus pillow on the bed was from the same fabrics.
Well, I hope you had some fun looking through everyone's blogs-tomorrow we'll be meeting Dominique. For now though, I do have a giveaway and a question. I swore I'd never get a doggie, and now I have one and would never change it. What is one thing you swore you'd never do, and low and behold-it's been done????
This prize of 2 Indelible fat quarters is up for grabs:

A Semi-Random pattern (a first for me!!)
Ok, so my quilts are usually very geometrically planned, or I follow a pattern etc. I don't do much in random, or wonky-it's just now how my brain works. So, I tried to go outside my usual and just started cutting up fabric and making hst blocks. But, once I started laying out the top, I just wasn't feeling it-so if you look closely, you can see some pinwheels, flying geese, diamonds, etc. Random, but not too random so that my brain is happy too!!
Super cute backing from Canadian designer Kate & Birdie Paper Co.
Look at that binding!! It's from the Annali line- I purchased mine from Warp & Weft, but I think I got the last of the bold. I wish I had more of it!!
And since it is Friday, I'll link up to Finish it up Fridays at Crazy Mom Quilts. Have a great weekend all!!

Sorbet Plus Quilt
These colors remind me of orange and strawberry sorbet. Fitting, that it is the first day of Fall, and so our sorbet days are coming to an end!
I made this quilt because I fell in love with the coral Kona fabric, so I
picked up others colors that co-ordinated and made a plus quilt. I'm very happy with the end result-also, this is one of the first times I straight line quilt and don't have any puckers at the cross sections!! Not sure what I did differently, maybe because I pin basted and spray basted.
And for the back, I used the Kona's in a horizontal gradient from lightest to darkest.

Rainbow squares quilt finish!
I have the newest edition of Quilty magazine, and when I saw the pattern inside named Sparkle, I knew I had to make it. I made mine slightly smaller, one less row, but I love how it turned out, and I love the binding. I think I may adjust my Library Project List-I did, after all, make the list back in January and my how project ideas can change in the blink of an eye!
I'll be sharing this tonight at our Maritime Modern Quilt Guild meeting-we are meeting at a new modern fabric shop in Halifax called Patch. 7-9 pm, Sept. 11th, and all ar
e welcome to join us.
I'm linking this up today to The Needle and Thread Network, a great place to find other Canadian bloggers who are fiber artists.
It's Friday, so that means the linky party is up over at Crazy Mom Quilts!

Firefly Quilt Finish
I've been wanting to make a chevron quilt forever, and finally just set aside the time to do it. I used some wee wander for the back and the fireflies/bees for the binding. I may have to make this pattern again-it was on my list for Adrienne's Library Project (see side bar for link) so I am happy to say that I have 3/5 quilts finished that I planned to do back in January when the library project started.
I quilted on only the white, 1/4 inch on each side of that chevron.

Nautical Quilt
I can finally post about this cute nautical inspired navy and grey quilt that I finished up a month ago. It is now with it's rightful owner, and I don't have to worry about spoiling her surprise!
And here is the entire quilt, it matches her nursery so well, and I'm so pleased for her. Looking forward to her little boy being born!

I love the anchor print-so crisp.

Blendabilities markers
Today is a weird weather day-a bit rainy, very muggy; I feel like a thunderstorm is necessary to clear the air. So, I figured it would be the perfect time to make a few cards in my basement studio where it is nice and cool.
These lollipop flowers are also from Purple Onion Designs.
I first started this blog to share my love of stamping and scrapbooking, and it slowly morphed into a sewing blog. I have to admit, it felt great to be using my stamps again-maybe I'll be inspired to make a few more cards later this evening.
This one if for my Mom who turns 80 later this month!!!
This cute bird and leaf stamp is from Purple Onion Designs-the Stacey Yacula collection. Love these stamps.
These stamps are both Stampin Up! The hardwood stamp is new, and I love how it looks like barn board (which I am currently obsessed with).

Double finish!
Just finished the second of the set of quilts for cute twin girls. I'll deliver these to their owners next week. I used the same fabrics but different patterns for the quilts. The 16 patch is from Allison Harris's book Growing up Modern, and the Framed quilt is by Camilla Roskelly's book Simply Retro.
Both of these quilts were on my Library Project list, so it feels good to have 2 of them finished!

Gray and Coral patchwork
I made this custom quilt for a lady who painted her nursery in gray with a coral/gray chevron on one wall. It looks really cool. So, stuck with mainly gray patches but wanted to put a coral square in most of the rows. I'm happy with this one, I think it's pretty cute-and I broke from my routine and used medium gray from Kona instead of my usual Ash.
I opted for a narrow white border around the patchwork before the medium gray border-I think it needed that little bit of white in there to break up the grey. Anyhow, this will be off to it's new owner soon-I hope her little girls enjoys it!

A nautical blankie
I had an order for a nautical themed blanket. I tried to find the aqua and red whales/sailboats that I had used before, but sadly, my local quilt shop were sold out. But, I did find these cute whales and anchors and just took the blanket in a different color scheme. I've read that navy and darker shades of blue are becoming more popular, and I have to say, I'm liking the darker shades after using aqua and teal for so long.
Anyhow, a week ago, we brought home a new puppy named Ben and I took him for a walk around the neighborhood today-he did so well on his leash. But that explains the lack of sewing projects around here!

Twin quilt finish!
I just put the last stitch in the binding last night, and washed and dried this quilt today. It likely looks familiar from my WIP posts, but I'm so happy to have this done-I have the top of the matching twin quilt done, just need to quilt and bind it. I can't wait to give this to the little girls Mom who ordered them-so cute.
I used pale pink Kona cotton for the back, a pale pink with white polka dots for the binding, and I used Aurafil Thread for the first time to quilt with and I loved it. My stitches were even, sharp and the best I've ever seen my Pfaff work. Definitely using it from now on.
Joining Finish it up Friday at Crazy Mom Quilts today!
and to Quiltstory.
