If you follow many quilt blogs, you'll know that this little granny square is causing quite a stir in the sewing world. It all started with Jolene from Blue Elephant Stitches posting a couple of blocks she had made with scrap fabric. Everyone fell in love with the blocks, and now there is a quilt-a-long on flickr at the Old Red Barn flickr group. I'm joining in, it's a fantastic way to use up scraps that you don't have the heart to get rid of. Here's my first two, and I'll be sharing at Freshly Pieced today as well.

Snow Day Project
The girls were off school today because of a "snowstorm" (not really a storm in my opinion) so we took out their soap making kits I had given them for Christmas. We think they turned out pretty cute, but I'm going to stick to sewing and stamping, they were a bit labour intensive!! Girls are proud thought, so that's all that matters.

Some new cards today.....
My friend Michelle was over today, so we made a few cards this morning. I love the colors of the Eiffel tower card, that will be for her friend (and they will be going to Paris in the fall!). The last card is with a new SU! set I just bought called Field Flowers. It is quite lovely and easy to work with, colors are eggplant and perfect plum with river rock as the neutral.
Have a great weekend! No cooking for me tonight, it's off to get Italian food for the girlies and I.

Patchwork blankie
I had some leftover scraps from all the blankets and bibs I've made so I thought I'd do a patchwork top. I cut each square 7 1/2 inches to make up the 28 x 34 size I like for the chenille blankets. I love these fabrics, perfect for a little boy which is not always easy to do. I try to stay away from trademark fabrics ie. batman, spiderman etc, so it is a little trickier to find nice fabric for baby boys.

New Chenille blankies
I love this fabric, it's called Baby Safari.
I had an order for some chenille blankets, so this one is gender neutral for the one baby who is due at the end of the month (also Baby Safari). It's the first time I sew chenille on my new Pfaff machine and I must say, it was much easier with the new machine.
I'll be linking this to Quiltstory today.

Project size bag
Claire absolutely loved this Heather Bailey fabric when she saw it, so I made her the project size drawstring bag for her Girl Guide items. They have a book, notepad, her scarf and sash that need to make it to the meeting every week, so now we are a little more organized! I love the bright colors in this one, finished height is around 13 inches.

Friday sewing
One of the teacher's at school requested a larger version of the drawstring bag I made for Charlotte, so last night I bought Jeni's pattern for her multi size bags , and made this. It is quite large, about 16 inches high so I'm hoping this is a good size for her knitting projects. Now, off to make a smaller one for Claire's girl guide books.
Anniversary card
Today, I'm working on a few things that people have requested me to do for them. This is the last of 3 cards a friend ordered, so now they are finished and ready for pick-up! Also finished some sewing today, and after lunch, I may have to do a quick craft room tidy before I move on to other projects!

Pretty Ditty Apron
Okay, clearly I need a mannequin to properly photgraph an apron, but anyhow, when your the only person in the house you do your best right! This is a new pattern I tried out by Jamie Christina, it's called Pretty Ditty Apron. My friend who owns My Stamping Studio wanted a couple of aprons in the colors of her shop. Hope she likes them!
It's Fabric Tuesday today at Quiltstory, so I'm linking my apron finish over there.

WIP quilt top finish
I just finished this quilt top this afternoon, I started the blocks in the first part of January. I'm so excited, I just love the colors. I've been wanting to use the Kona Ash as a background for a while now, and this color combo pops nicely against the ash. The squares are a tutorial by Fresh Lemon Quilts.
I made 20 squares, more of a crib size. Not sure how I'll quilt it yet.
Linking up to WIP Wednesday today (see button on the right!).
