Cocoa on a cold, wet day

Seems silly to make a Christmas card today, but I just had to ink up this stamp and color it for the first time.  The whip cream on top is perfect pearl pen, the stamp is by Impression Obsession, paper is razzleberry by Stampin Up!

500th Post!!

For my 500th post, I'm showing you a ribbon taggie that was made for  a custom order.  She wanted one made for a little boy, and I had just the fabric!  I bought this in Elmsdale at It's Sew Time, I thought it was just so cute and was certain I could find a good use for it!  Anyhow, I can't believe I've had 500 posts-what could I possible have had to show that many times!!  Beautiful, sunny day here in Nova Scotia, hope everyone is enjoying their day wherever you may be reading this!

New Crayon Wallets

Here's how it looks on the inside, with crayons, gel pens and a notepad.
I've been making some new crayon wallets over the last day or so.  I'm using the PDF pattern from JCasa Handmade.  Kids love these wallets, and I'm loving the fun fabric I found to use!  I bought the reclaimed wood tray they are in from Rusty Hinges in Halifax, love having neat display items, and they have plenty.  I'll be at the Dartmouth Farmers Market at Alderney landing on May 12th from 8am-1pm for any of you who read that are local!  I'm linking this to Magic Onions, Friday nature's table today.

Quilt Finish!

I' m finished!  I put the last stitch in the binding last night, and I'm so proud of it!  I used the pattern from Fresh Lemon Quilts, just made it a little smaller more of a baby/toddler size.  I'm going to link this to Finish it Up Friday at Crazy Mom Quilts  and to SewHappyGeek and

WIP Wednesday

I am almost finished of this quilt, just have to make the scrappy binding. I started this over Christmas holidays, and didn't know how to quilt it for the longest time, so I just left it! Anyhow, yesterday I decided to baste it, then just did horizontal lines on my machine. I used a new to me thread, a variegated gray Sulky and I love it. It has a sheen to it, and I used a longer stitch length- 3.5 on my Pfaff- and I quite like how it turned out. Today, binding, so expect to see a finished photo soon!

Back from the Bahamas!

We are back from our vacation to Nassau, Bahamas. We went over Easter break and just got home last night. Lots of fun, great weather and a beautiful place to take your family. A bit on the pricey side, but they have a lot of fun excursions that would never be available in Canada! I mean, where else can we snorkel with sharks and stingrays??? Nice break, but I think we are all glad to be home again and get back to some normal routine (and I do want to get back to my sewing machine before our summer starts!).

...and sprinkles on top

Love this cupcake fabric, and when I found the pink flannel with the little dots I immediately thought the pink looked like icing with sprinkles. I really like the look of these receiving blankets, just finding it a little tricky to get the corners to lie perfectly flat.

Hope everyone has a Happy Easter weekend!

Bite Me

I finished 2 more blanket sets today- the top one ( I believe it's called Hoo's in the Forest, by Doohickey Designs) will be on it's way to Newfoundland soon - and the flannel Michael Miller Bite Me fabric (apples) will be going in my stash to put on my sale table. As you can tell, I'm addicted to making these blankets lately. I have a large stash of chenille, and I won't let myself by anymore until I use up what I have!

Another finish...

I made another blanket today, I really like these colors together. I used a wave stitch this time on my machine to topstitch the red and brown border. It's fun to try out different designs instead of always straight.

I went to the local quilt shop today and found some cute flannel fabric with cupcakes for the design, I must make that one next.

I'll be linking this to SewHappyGeek today.

Flannel receiving blanket

This morning, I made this tractor blanket. It has flannel on both sides and it is called a self-binding blanket because of the large border all the way around. For the top stitching, I used a stitch on my machine that is similar to a blanket stitch, not sure if that is visible in the top photo. I like this blanket, it's about 34 inches square, a nice size for a new baby. And I really like trying something new (like those mitered corners). I guess that's why this blog is all over the place!! I can't seem to stick to any one thing, I just bounce from project to project. So many fun things to make that I want to try them all!

One more....

Yesterday, I finished backing this top with chenille, so thought I would share it today. The colors are softer than I normally choose, but I thought it would make a nice girl blanket for a Mom who wants something a little different. Brown, blue and green are one of my favorite color combos, so I had lots in my stash to choose from. This little blankie will be added to my "for sale" bin, lots of ideas floating around in my head, hopefully will be able to get some of them done for Mayfair.

Vroom!

I have a baby shower to attend on Sunday and she knows her baby will be a boy. I had enough of this on the go fabric (plus stash items) to make 2 of these blankets. So, one for her and one for the fair! I love the deep turquoise minky chenille on the back of this, such a lovely color. These blankets are approximately 28 x 32 and are perfect for in the stroller/car seat etc. Warm, but not to heavy to drag around everywhere!

Fun blankie

In the process of making some more pieced chenille blankets. There is a fair coming up in May that I'm getting ready for, so be prepared to see more sewing in the near future!!

I'll be linking up to Sew Happy Geek and Canoe Ridge Creations today!

I just found a site called A Needle and Thread
that features Canadian bloggers from Tuesday-Thursday every week. You can link a blog about knitting, quilting, sewing etc. It's fun for me to find other Canadians in blogland-for some reason most of the blogs I follow are American or overseas- nothing wrong with that, just fun to see who else lives in the Maritimes and enjoys the same hobbies I do!

Birthday card

I will be visiting my sister-in-law tomorrow and needed to make her a birthday card. I wanted something fresh, modern and simple. So, hopefully she likes this card, not my usual style but I quite like it too. All stamps are SU!

Summer scarves

Last week was our school break, so I took the girls to my parents' in PEI for the week. We had a snowstorm while there, and were able to play in the snow a bit, almost a first this year as Halifax mainly had rain! Anyhow, I made a few scarves with my Mom's sewing machine. I especially like the top one, it matches everything! Looks great with yellow or a chocolate brown sweater. (I know this because big sister got to keep one and we had a mini fashion show with it!). Happy first day of Spring!
