Bloggers quilt Festival

I made this quilt for a dear friend/teacher at my daughters' school. She was due to have a baby in July, and another teacher asked me to make her a quilt that would be part of her gift from all the teachers. I tried to make it gender neutral, with lots of bright fun colors for the baby. On the back I used a microfleece which is very soft and warm, and very easy to work with since it didn't shift, or move much during quilting. I quilted 1/4 inch in from the seams, and around the small center square.

There is nothing better than making a quilt for someone that you know is truly going to appreciate the gift. I was so excited for her to receive it, and she was so very thankful and happy to have a special blanket for her baby girl.

This week at Amy's Creative Side, she is featuring the fall installment of Blogger's Quilt Festival. It is a wonderful place to view hundreds of quilts from different bloggers all over the world. I'm linking this post to her website today.

Glittery Day

I felt like making some more Christmas cards today-must be the cold weather! The bottom 2 cards feature stamps by Artful Stamper, the snowmen are by Stampin Up! The bottom 2 are embossed and are quite sparkly in real life, the holly was colored using twinkling H2O's. The snowmen have some glitter ritz and some viva pearl pen for the snow.

Star block zippered pouch

Here is one more bag I made this morning. I decided to piece together a star block for the front of the pouch and fussy cut the centre block. The block came out a little bigger than I had hoped, but I guess I should have used my math skills a little better!

Spice Cake

Here are 2 more bags I made this afternoon, again with Stampin Up! fabric. This time spice cake. These will be added to my table at the fair.

Flirtatious zippered pouches

This morning I was busy making a couple of zippered pouches. One is a birthday present for a 6 year old friend of my daughters. I used the flirtatious designer fabric from Stampin Up!, her favorite colors are pink and purple (I lined it with purple). Now just to add some little lip glosses and hand cream....

Today is Fabric Tuesday at Quiltstory, so I'll be linking this post over there.

More Christmas Cards

Just returned from stamp-a-stack today. It was a lot of fun. These are the other 3 cards that my tables completed. It puts me in the mood to make my Christmas cards!

Christmas cards

I made some Christmas Cards this afternoon. I'm loving the glitter paper! I'm linking this to SSSC139 since the top card is the sketch for this week. I'm also linking this to Cori's blog for her Created for Christmas linky party-it's time to start making some gifts for Christmas and she wants to feature some ideas on her blog.

Felt Christmas Ornaments

I'm really trying to make my booth appeal to more people this year, last year I was very baby focused. Anyhow, I ordered this wool felt from Etsy last winter and am just using it now! So far, this is what I have done, I'm thinking of bringing my daughters' little xmas tree to hang them on at the fair, but for now, I photographed them hanging in the trees behind my house! Linking this post up to Sew Modern Monday at Canoe Ridge Creations (see button on the side).

Rainbow Thrum Mitts

I've been making these mitts forever, but I went to a mill in PEI this summer and she had bags and bags of colorful roving wool. So instead of the usual white thrums, I opted for some bright colors. And they are so warm and soft when you put your hand in, love them! I'll be adding these to my craft fair pile, it's growing (slowly!) I stumbled upon a blog called Stitched in Color and she is having a fall linky party and is including knitted items. So in honor of her Celebrate Color theme, I am linking these mitts over there today.

2 more Christmas Stockings

I made 2 more stockings, however I quilted each one on the diagonal, but used a solid piece of fabric instead of piecing it. They are cute, and not as time consuming as the zigzag stocking I made earlier. But, I do know I will still make a few more quilted stockings before Christmas.

More Ribbon Taggies

I've finished 4 more taggies for my upcoming craft show. I am in love with this Anne Kelle fabric. It is just so fun and bright. Good thing I have such a huge stash of ribbon, now I can get some of it used up and quit hoarding it!

The Sweetest thing...

I am hosting a baby shower on Sunday for a friend who recently had a baby boy. So, it was my job to come up with a card that everyone who works in the office can sign. I used the sketch from SSSC138 this week for inspiration. Then decided to just use My Mind's Eye product that I bought at Kelly's store and have been waiting for the perfect opportunity to use it!

Farm Fresh patchwork

I cut some squares of leftover fabric and made this little patched quilt. I love these little farm animals. I quilted 1/4 inch from the seam horizontally and vertically and used a soft green and white polka dot flannel on the back. Each square was cut at 6 inches. I made this quilt in 2 days, which is a record for me. I know to all you serious quilters out there it probably seems like a long time, but for me it's nothing short of a miracle! I'm linking this to Quiltstory and Freshly Pieced (see buttons on the sidebar). So that leaves me with the log cabin top and one other top to finish.

Thanksgiving card

I made this card for my sister and brother-in-law who are hosting Thanksgiving Dinner this year. The owl is a punch by Stampin Up! and he is so cute, I really need to use it more. I'm too used to stamping/coloring an image for a card instead of using die-cuts or punches. Anyhow, color combo is tangerine tango, riding hood red, and teal.

Branch out- Fall card

2 posts in one day! What's going on? Anyhow, my friend has a birthday tomorrow so I made this card for her. She loves autumn, and I wanted to use that beautiful patterned paper so this is what I came up with. This is a Stampin Up! set that is now retired, but I love this tree so much and have never been able to give this set up.
