Log Cabin quilt top

Last week, I started these log cabin blocks and this week I`ve gotten the top completed. So the next step will be basting then quilting which is my least favorite part of the process! I`m happy with the way this turned out though, was a little worried that the colors were a bit wild, but the white helps to tame it down.

This post will be linked over to Freshly Pieced WIP Wednesday. And if you scroll down a little further, you`ll see my tree block is finally finished into a pillow!!!

Happy Dirtday

I bought the set I Dig You from the new Stampin Up! catalogue because I just loved this truck! And the sad part is, I don`t have any little boys, but I`m sure I`ll find some cute little boy to give this card too. I stamped out the truck in 3 different colors then pieced them all together again.

Tree Appliqué Pillow

Well, I finally finished this today. I had started the tree a long time ago, and this morning decided to make it into a little throw pillow for Charlotte`s bedroom. I raw edge appliqued the leaves and tree. This design was inspired by a tutorial at Cluck Cluck Sew, and I`ll be sharing this over at Quiltstory today for Fabric Tuesday!

Outline Flower card

A few weeks ago, I visited a relatively new scrapbook store in PEI and fell in love with these flower stamps by Outline. I find since I`ve started sewing again, the stamping has fallen to the wayside, but these stamps really got me interested again. My Mom has a birthday coming up in August, so I think this may find it`s way to her door. I followed this weeks sketch at the Sweetest Thing blog for the card layout.

Log Cabin Blocks

This morning I decided to start a new quilt. I`ve finished these 2 blocks so far, first time I`ve ever done a log cabin block. So far so good, but not sure about the color value, I know light on one side and dark on the other, but I tend to buy all vibrant colors so they all seem to have the same value to me. Anyhow, must go take a look at the other WIP`s over at Freshly Pieced, and maybe get some ideas (like I need more of those!!).

Mom`s Bread

No craft items to show today, however I did make some really delicious bread! First try with my mother`s recipe and I am very happy with how it turned out. I hope it tastes as good as it looks!

Large cosmetic bag

I had an order for a large cosmetic bag, so here it is, finally done! It is part of a baby shower gift, so I thought this fabric would suit either boy or girl, and is grown-up enough if Mom wants to use it for herself!!

I`m linking this to Fabric Tuesday at Quiltstory today, go check it out!

Turquoise Thrum Mitts

Another pair of thrum mitts finished. I think this is my favorite pair yet, I love the turquoise color-not easy to find. I bought this ball from a local sheep farmer at the Seaport Farmers market in Halifax. It`s a cold, cloudy day here today so I spent all day cleaning the house. I must reward myself now by going down to my little sewing area.

Cosmetic Bag

I`m heading to Newfoundland tomorrow for the night, and will be staying with my sister there. I wanted to bring her a little gift, so I made her this cosmetic bag. I love the vibrant colors, hope we get some good weather-just staying the one night.

Headbands

Here are my 2 girls, ready for bed and sporting their new headbands I just sewed them. They chose the fabric they wanted. I made a fabric bow that they can choose to wear or not. I found this pattern in the Spring issue of Quilts Etc., it`s by Sandy Gervais. Really simple to make, and the girls are quite happy with them!

Cosmobella

Decided to make a card tonight for a change- first time inking this Cosmobella stamp from Stamping Bella. The coral base paper is new from stamping up this year, and the patterned paper is Cosmo Cricket. This is based on the SSSC 124 from the Sweetest Thing.

Work in Progess

This idea was inspired by the tree pillow at Cluck Cluck Sew. I`m going to put a border around it, and add some chenille backing and ribbon tags. It`s a great way to use up scraps of favorite fabric. I have a fabric glue stick that I`ll use to stick on the shapes, then raw edge applique around the leaves. Likely try to sew this tonight or tomorrow, this afternoon is a beach day!

Véronique`s Quilt

I made this quilt for a teacher and friend at the school that my 2 girls go to. She is expecting a baby in July, and they had a shower for her yesterday at the school. I used a lot of different fabrics in this quilt, and backed it with a microfleece that is nice and soft for the baby. I followed a tutorial that was featured on the Moda Bake Shop blog. Happy Canada Day!
Yeah, Fabric Tuesday is back at Quiltstory today, I`m linking this to their blog.
