Cards today

Pin ItThis is a new stamp that I just ordered from Stampin Up!  It's a background stamp called Pleasant Poppies, and is quite a pretty stamp once colored.  This card will soon be on it's way to my Aunt who lives in Montreal.  She shares the same birthday as my oldest daughter!
Then, I made one more set of notecards today.  The stamps are all Stampin Up! as well as the ink, although mainly retired colors-Peach Parfait, Poppy Parade and Tangerine Tango (which is still current).  I'm enjoying making cards again, think I will concentrate a bit more on the paper side of things for my next craft show!

New apron

Pin ItI made this apron today, it's the Emmeline reversible apron pattern that I have used many times before!  The light is fading fast, but wanted to photograph it today anyhow.  It's fun to do something a little different now and then, I've been making so many scarves lately that I really needed a change before returning to them!

Antique Quilt

My Mom had a quilt saved for me that my grandmother and Aunt had made many years ago.  She gave it to me this weekend and I had to share it on my blog.  It is at least 50 years old, likely more than that but we're not sure.
As soon as I saw it, I recognized 3 of the fabrics!  They look very similar (maybe a smaller scale) to Denise Schmidt's Flea Market Fancy that was so popular over the last year.  Here are a few closer photos:

I thought that was so neat, that some of my favorite fabrics were in this quilt that is so old!  The back of it is bleached flour sacks, sewn together as the backing.  I'm so lucky to have this, and that it didn't get thrown away over the years.  It will be aired out, and then safely stowed in my glass hutch in the kitchen!!
Even though I didn't make this, I am going to share it on Show and Tell Tuesday today!

15 minute Friday

Pin ItWhat do you do with 15 minutes of craft time?  Well, I was going to iron the backing for my quilt, but when I plugged in the iron, discovered it was totally dead!  Will have to replace it tomorrow.  So, I still wanted to get my crafty fix for the day, and have wanted to make a few sets of note cards for my stash.  I used this set from Stampin Up! and made 4 matching cards, packaged them together with envelopes with some awesome orange bakers twine.
I did 2 of each in different colors.  I think I will make a few different styles for my upcoming craft fairs.  I have always been a sucker for stationary, even as a young girl, I loved going to the local office supply store to look at all the different papers and pens-and there wasn't even any glitter sold there!
Anyhow, hope everyone has a great weekend!!

To border or not?

Pin ItI have my blocks pieced together into a top, courtesy of yesterdays snow day.  This is half of the top, its folded over so it ended up being 4 squares across and 5 down.  Anyhow, I wasn't intending to put a border on it, but now am thinking of just a small, maybe 2-3 inch border with the kona ash.  Any opinions out there from my fellow quilters?

WIP Wednesday

Pin ItHooray!  I've started piecing a new baby quilt.  This will be a gift for my husband's business partner.  They are expecting their 2nd child in May, trying to go for gender neutral, and I've been hoarding this toadstool fabric for just the right quilt.  Had lots of time to piece my HST's over the storm weekend.  All the blocks are done, just have to sew them into rows and decide if I want to border it or not.  I don't want the quilt to be large, rather to be used in the stroller or car seat.

Monday, my shipment of chevron jersey knit arrived so yesterday was spent cutting and sewing this beautiful fabric into infinity scarves.  Still lots more to finish, but I did get a good start on it yesterday.  I'm so in love with these colors.  I have a few more I haven't cut into yet, that will be this afternoons project!

Love cards

Pin ItMy oldest daughter wanted to make some special Valentines Day cards for her grandparents, and this is what we came up with during yesterdays snowstorm.  They turned out so cute that I wanted to share them on my blog, I think she did a great job.  She must get her craftiness from her father...

New Cards

Pin ItFriday, I had a workshop and we made these 4 cards, plus one more that I will also be making for the Stamp-a-Stack in Windsor on April 14th, so I want to keep that as a surprise for now!  Anyhow, all the items used are Stampin Up! I was supposed to have one more class yesterday but with this nasty snowstorm I postponed it until next Saturday.  Let's hope that's it for storms for this year!  I have started a new quilt that will be a gift for a friend who is due in May, I will be sharing that later in the week, when the top is all pieced.

Knit Cowl

I made another cowl over the weekend, best project ever to do while catching up on tv shows!  I used size 8mm circular needles, 131 stitches and just did a seed stitch pattern of K1 P1, making sure the next row was opposite stitches.  The yarn is new to me, made in Germany, named Schachenmayr and it is very soft and cozy for winter.  Linking up today at The Needle and Thread Network.

Snowy day sewing

I had a request for a reversible purse, so made that today during our snowstorm (which has since turned to rain, I wish it would just snow!!)  This one has a longer purse strap than the others I made, hope she likes it!

Stocking up

I'm trying to be more organized this year and not leave all my craft fair sewing until the last month before the fair!  I'm currently stocking up on some crayon wallets as they seem to be a crowd favorite every time.  I have applied for the ECMC spring fair in April, so these will be on my table if I'm accepted!  I hope so, I participated the last 2 times, and it was  a great fair to be in!  Happy Friday!
