Sew Sisters Blogathon!

For those of you visiting blogs from the Maritimes today, I'm Jeanette and have been blogging here for about 6 years. It started off as a place to share my paper crafts, but then I returned to my first love of fabric around 4 years ago. Now, I'm busy doing custom sewing orders and craft fairs and I love it! The best one is coming up this weekend in Halifax at the St. Mary's Boat Club, you can check it out at ECMC.
Yesterday, I finished up some more craft fair sewing- these cute drawstring bags.
This year, I've made only a few quilts. They now live in Cape Breton, and belong to a photographer, which means I get to see them in action on her family photo shoots!
This one, I made with my Mom as a Christmas gift to my nephew.
This really cute toadstool quilt was for a friend who had a spring baby. She had a girl, but at the time I made it neutral for either a girl or a boy!
Almost forgot to show these cute patchwork zippered pouches I made yesterday too-
Have fun visiting all the Canadian Bloggers- I "met" a lot of new people when I was host last year and I love seeing everyone's beautiful quilting/sewing. Thanks for visiting!

Now for the babies....
Last time, I posted a cuddle blanket for grown ups-now it's all about the babies! Only 9 days to finish prepping for the fair-now I'm getting nervous!I ordered fabric from Warp and Weft last week and made these 3 gorgeous blankets. Well, 2 of the hedgehog since it's just so cute. I've had my eye on the bunny fabric for a long time, and since I was out of linen fabric I thought I would place an order for linen, and some fun woodland prints!
This fabric was found at a local quilt shop called Atlantic Fabrics. I'm really in love with that raccoon fabric- really cute.
And this is the last of my beloved toadstool fabric. I've made a quilt, crayon wallets, drawstring bags and now this blanket. I'm said to say, it is all used up and I no longer have any in my stash...

Cuddle blanket for grown-ups!
I'm so happy we live in a place that offers seasons!! Then we get to cuddle up with warm blankets on the couch-just finished this lovely one as part of a large order. This is the 3rd one finished-one more to complete. The flowered fabric in this blanket is from Jeni Baker's Nordika line. I love the mint background one, I wish I had ordered more!!

Notebooks/passport holders
So, the fair last weekend went really well-I sold lots of scarves and chenille blankets. Even a quilt!! That is a first for me at a craft show, so I was very pleased about that. Now, the prep begins again for the next one. I will be making a variety of projects, and am now impatiently waiting for my next order of Linen fabric to arrive so I can make some more of these list takers-they are quite popular. Hope everyone has a great weekend!Thursday, October 31, 2013

Crayon Wallets
So, my first fair starts this Friday at Christmas at the Forum. I have a selection of infinity scarves, a few bibs and baby minky blankets available. Now, I'm starting prep for the next fair on Nov 23-24. It is the Holiday Fair with the East Coast Momma Collective and will have 3 event times (includes a Saturday night market). I figure I will need a large amount of product, and so I just finished up 15 more crayon wallets today-it took me 3 days from start to finish!!! There is a lot involved in making these, but they are just so cute. That, is a good feeling!!

Back to my roots
This is how it all started....making a chenille blanket for a friend's new baby. And then I decided to start making them to sell-and these will be on display at Christmas at the Forum.
Love these giraffes with the grey polka dots.
And look at this lovely pile, just need to tag them and they are ready to go!

For the list makers in all of us..
Finished up some list takers today-I used mine this summer for passport/boarding pass storage while travelling. Keeping track of documents for the 4 of us is not always a simple task, and so it was nice to have everything tucked in one place.
And a photo of the inside-it comes with a notepad and pen.

Cozy blankie...
I'm on a roll these days! Finished up another custom order for a large chenille blanket. Mostly from the Aviary line by Joel Dewberry, which I love.
I'm using a warm white chenille for the backing. This is a pretty large blanket, I think around 56x56 when it's all finished.
So, that's 2 blankets down, 3 to go. Well, possibly 5 more to go if my 2 daughters get their way and I make them each one for Christmas!

Time is ticking away...
I finished up an order for some drawstring bags today and also decided to close for custom orders until January. I'm finding it hard to balance orders, prep for upcoming fairs, and still have a life!! Anyhow, I'm loving these owls-I bought the pattern from Jeni at In Color Order ages ago and I still enjoy making these bags.Friday, September 27, 2013
Somebody stop me.....
I just can't seem to stop myself from making these scarves-I mean I seriously have at least 50 in a bin in my craft room just waiting for the November fairs to start! Well, if they don't sell, I'm going to have some awesome accessories to wear this winter!!Happy Friday!
